200+ Residents Inhabit the Volcanic Island of Aogashima, Japan

Aogashima Island, located 222.4 mi south of Tokyo in the Philippine Sea is categorized as a Class C volcano, with its last eruptions in 1781/1785.

As of 2022, the estimated population of the island is approximately 150 people, basking in beautiful landscapes and geothermal spas. It is not the easiest place to visit, however, it is one of the few places you can learn to cook using geothermal steam. You can get there via helicopter or boat/ferry.

I did find a news article that has some wonderful real-life photos of the culture, island, and people, with more detailed information. Visit: Daily Mail News
